Aches and Trauma : Understanding Post - Traumatic Headache , Part 2 : Management and Treatment

An increasing number of studies in recent years have helped better define post-traumatic headache (PTH) and further clarify the relationship between concussion and headache/migraine. Part 1 of this series (published in the July/August 2017 edition of Practical Neurology®, available at PracticalNeurology.com/2017/08) delved deeper into the pathophysiology of PTH and explored remaining questions regarding its possible mechanisms. Until these questions are answered, viable avenues for management specific to PTH will be few. This article surveys treatment options, including possible preventive therapies, for PTH.
